Searching?
At Suburbs we know that everyone is searching for something (even though we may not admit it). Some for a feeling, some for financial security, for answers, for God, for family, for hope, for healing and for meaning. It often seems as if these ‘treasures’ are beyond our grasp or even not out there at all. What are we to do? Where do we find answers?
At Suburbs we are on that journey as well. We believe that God can meet every need so here’s some helpful advice:
Searching is a good thing
In the Bible it says:
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.- Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
God is there to be found if we just begin to ask and seek. Jesus went on to say that ‘God is very near’ and that we just need to turn around and realise that he’s been there all along!
Searching requires humility
Admitting we don’t know everything, don’t have all the answers and that we actually need God is a huge but significant step. Jesus, in his famous Sermon on the Mount, said:
God blesses those who are poor and realise their need for him.
- Matthew 5:3 (NLT)
To be poor is relevant because we are not rich with inner peace, security, joy and meaning – the things money can never buy. When we realise that only God can satisfy our inner desires we have laid down our pride that acts like a big wall between us and God.
Searching requires action
For the Wise Men they had to follow a star that led them on unfamiliar paths. At Suburbs we understand that following unfamiliar paths can be scary and so we are here to help you in every way we can. We’re all in the same boat somewhere on a journey of searching, finding, changing and healing. Please don’t feel it’s too much to ask questions: our disclaimer is that you will not find perfect people. We are united by our seeking and by the grace of God. You’ll fit right in!
